StorageCraft® users have been told that the WatchDog DART software is being decommissioned on the 30th April, 2017.
Primarily developed to check local ShadowProtect® backups for integrity (DART stands for Daily Automated Recovery Testing) - Watchdog was supposed to fill in the information and reporting blanks that ShadowProtect® and ImageManager® couldn't. A great concept, and the marketing material made all the right promises, but the user experience left most service providers underwhelmed.
We here at Probax have been big fans of ShadowProtect® for a long time - at the time of writing we are managing in excess of 150 Petabytes (yes, petabytes) worth of recovery points for our channel partners and their customers. However, given our agnostic stance on the topic of backup being both a Veeam Cloud Provider® and a StorageCraft® partner - we've always felt we could offer partners something far better than WatchDog and it's soon to be successor ShadowControl.
Enter Probax Scout.
Scout is an application we’ve developed that runs on End User systems. It provides a link between our cloud storage and the End User’s local backup locations in order to automatically fix common errors encountered when using ImageManager®.
Scout is due for commercial release in August 2016 - with an accelerated development map bringing powerful new functionality to MSPs for for Veeam® and ShadowProtect® backups.
